Workshops
    These workshops are designed to be very involved hence the need for smaller groups. The participants get to have a go at something and sometimes take home an item they have made. These workshops are also offered as part of the 'Full Day Experience' for schools (see the School Visits section).
    We offer either 'authentic' activities - where reproduction tools and equipment are used to make replica objects; or 'paper based' activities - where paper and modern craft tools are used to create something. All materials and equipment are supplied and we host the workshops in full period costume.
    Included in the price of the workshop is a hand-out pack to take home containing all relevant facts and figures relating to the workshop.
    We also have a display board to compliment each workshop containing pictures of finds and literary quotations about the subject covered.

Talks
   For larger groups a structured talk or 'lecture' can be provided, with display boards for the audience to look at, replica objects to handle and an information sheet to take home. Both talks are lead by Rosie in full period costume with Glenn as backup.
   Talks last 45 minutes and cost £25.00 + Mileage and Travel costs.

Demonstrations
   These are designed for larger groups, where selected volunteers can 'have-a-go' and are lead by Rosie and/or Glenn in full period costume. An optional information sheet is available at 25p each.
   Demonstrations cost £30.00 + Mileage and Travel costs.
(Some workshops attract a small extra charge where perishable goods are used - this is noted accordingly.)

visit the 'læcewif' and discover how to cure a headache and charms against cattle-rustling; watch the creation of and taste a period cough medicine

Hat / Pouch-Making
examine a selection of reproduction hats and pouches, view the evidence for them and watch them being made

Drop-Spinning
find out about Anglo-Saxon fibres, view the evidence and watch raw fleece being picked, carded and then hand-spun on a drop-spindle

see how a tablet-weaving loom is set up and find out how the patterns are formed

watch an archer 'loose' a selection of period arrows and find out what the different shaped arrow-heads were used for

   As an optional extra or during the summer months when the weather is fine - we offer our period tent and contents as a backdrop to all our activities for an additional single charge of £20.00. (Tent takes an extra 1 hour to set up.)
   Any of the workshops, talks and demonstrations can take place indoors or outside.
   Minimum group size of 15 required (discounts for larger groups), but any age-group can be accommodated.
   Risk Assessments provided on request. Please notify us of any allergies, whether to food or fibres and any special needs. We both hold Standard Disclosure notices from the Criminal Records Bureau. Rosie holds a Basic Food Hygiene certificate and Glenn is a registered First Aider.
